We are proud to share that our Justice Building in Zaanstad is nominated for the Dutch Daylight Award 2026.
In a building where security is the driving principle, there is rarely room for light. Designed by Studio PROTOTYPE, Justice Office Zaanstad turns that principle on its head. It is precisely from the need for control and protection that an architectural design has emerged in which daylight becomes the organising force.
This made the jury eager to visit and experience the project firsthand: curious to witness how it transforms over time and through the changing colours of the day; to experience the interplay of shadow and light; to discover the contrasts or, conversely, the softness; and to feel how daylight brings the materials to life through touch.
The jury will visit the nominated projects this summer and announce the winner of the Dutch Daylight Award 2026 at the end of September.

A wonderful international recognition for Rijkskantoor B73: the project has won the Jury Award at the 2026 Architizer A+Awards in the Government & Civic Buildings category.
Architizer: “The transformation of Rijkskantoor B73 in The Hague redefines the modern government workplace through a thoughtful fusion of heritage, sustainability, and human-centered design. Studio PROTOTYPE and ZENBER Architecten have created a flexible, nature-infused environment for two ministries—the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature—turning a traditional office complex into a vibrant, future-proof workspace that reflects the values of collaboration and innovation within the public sector.”
Our sincere thanks go to the Government Building Agency, Heijmans, and all designers, consultants, and makers involved in the project, including Makers of Sustainable Spaces, Gielissen Interiors, Exhibitions & Events, and QC lightfactory, whose craftsmanship, expertise, and commitment have contributed to the realization of this ambitious project.
Justice Building in Zaanstad, developed by Studio PROTOTYPE, sets a new benchmark in sustainable public architecture. It is the largest CLT office structure built for the Dutch government, featuring a distinctive façade with parametrically designed timber lamellas that provide optimal daylight and comfort for users.
The recognition underscores the project’s innovative qualities, functional efficiency, and environmentally responsible approach, contributing to a broader vision for modern, forward-thinking workplaces.
We’re proud to share that our Justice Building in Zaanstad has been longlisted by Archello for the Office Building of the Year 2025.
Designed by Studio PROTOTYPE, the project embodies our vision of a sustainable and human-centered workplace — featuring the largest CLT office structure built for the Dutch government and a distinctive façade with parametrically designed wooden lamellas that optimize light and comfort throughout the day.
Our project Justice Office Zaanstad has been selected for the Architectenweb Awards 2025. The nomination in the Office Building of the Year category affirms both the architectural and societal value of the design. We look back on a strong selection among inspiring projects from across the field.
We are proud to announce that the Ministry of EZ, KGG & LVVN, designed by Studio PROTOTYPE and ZENBER Architects, has received the BIG SEE Architecture Award 2026 for public, civic, and administration buildings. The project was selected as part of the Curatorial Honour List by a BIG SEE curator and won without being submitted for the award.
This distinction celebrates the project’s strong architectural identity, public presence, and thoughtful integration of sustainability, functionality, and long-term adaptability within a governmental setting. We are especially honoured to receive this award through independent curatorial recognition and grateful for the appreciation of the project’s ambition and quality.
This innovative project combines CLT timber construction with large windows and spacious atria, creating a bright and comfortable working environment. The flexible layout allows future adaptation of the garage areas into office space, while structural solutions such as large timber overhangs and rigid CLT connections demonstrate technical ingenuity. Designed by Studio PROTOTYPE and coordinated by Adviesbureau Lüning, the building exemplifies sustainable and thoughtful architecture.
The winner of the Office Building of the Year 2025 award will be announced on November 5 during the Architectenweb Awards ceremony.
Rijkskantoor Justitie Zaanstad nominated for Office Building of the Year by Architectenweb!
The jury praises a building with carefully designed spaces that are modest in their expression, yet warm in atmosphere thanks to the choice of materials. Combined with the abundance of daylight entering the offices, this creates a pleasant working environment, according to the jury. They are also enthusiastic about the CO₂ savings achieved through the largely wooden load-bearing structure and the parametrically optimized façade. Studio Prototype designed both the building and the interior, and the jury immediately recognized this. The result is a highly coherent piece of architecture.
The winner of the Office Building of the Year 2025 award will be announced on the evening of Wednesday, November 5, 2025, during the festive ceremony of the Architectenweb Awards 2025.
